White’s experience brings him at the lakefront, at which he finds himself staring at the same lake, virtually unchanged. White’s experience as he visits a lake once again the lake that he has been fond of since childhood. These two authors used diction, imagery, and sensory details to arrive at the truth of their piece. In the short story, “Whistling Swan,” written by Terry Tempest Williams, the writer uses a swan in which he compares the death of Tamara Crocker Pulfer and the late miagration of the swan. He reminisces about his childhood memories with his father, as he now is a father and is taking his own child to his once beloved lake. 4 Find two images that suggest that the lake has not changed and comment on them? 5 Find one or two images that seem to convey both change and sameness and comment on them. With the repetition of imagery and sensory details we come to realize that these are the things of most importance to the author. However, lymphomas can have a wide variety of presentations especially in early-stage disease, resulting in diagnostic delay. The typical presentation of lymphomas includes palpable lymph nodes (most commonly in the neck) and B symptoms that is fever, night sweats and unexpected weight loss > 10% over the last 6 months. ĭespite improved understanding of disease and advances in technology, lymphomas continue to present diagnostic challenges. HL is more common in children and young adults, with the nodular sclerosis subtype of classical HL predominating in this age group. It is characterised by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells and accounts for approximately 15% of lymphomas (with 85% being non-Hodgkin). Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) is a rare B-cell lymphoma, accounting for 1% of all new tumour diagnoses worldwide. In smear-negative TB, lymphoma should be considered as a differential and definitive diagnostic tests such as molecular testing and histological examination of biopsies should be considered earlier in the diagnostic work-up to prevent diagnostic delay. Existing TB guidelines for smear-negative cases are not clear when to consider alternative diagnoses. Lymphoma is often misdiagnosed as TB, prolonging time to treatment and may adversely impact patient prognosis due to disease progression. Four months later, following clinical deterioration and further investigations, a mediastinal biopsy assisted in diagnosing Stage IV HL. An initial diagnosis of TB was made despite testing negative for acid-fast bacilli and anti-tubercular treatment was commenced. This was investigated with magnetic resonance imaging resulting in an incidental finding of mediastinal mass and pulmonary infiltrates. Case presentationĪ 23-year-old Asian female initially presented to rheumatology with over a one-year history of neuropathic pain, alongside abnormal white cell count and inflammatory markers. Written consent was obtained from the patient in compliance with ethical guidelines. We aim to highlight the diagnostic dilemma of TB versus lymphoma with an atypical presentation of HL and explored areas for further research and improvement with a non-systematic literature review using MEDLINE database and Google Scholar. Diagnosis of lymphomas can be difficult due to broad, non-specific presentations of disease, which can be similar to several other conditions ranging from infective, inflammatory or malignant causes, with one of the most common differentials being tuberculosis (TB). Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HL) is a rare malignancy characterised histologically by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells. Specially manufactured for the Spider Deck750 stage system for giving it a professional appearance we have a range of straight or pleated stage skirts from a with simple hook and loop fixing which are sized to completely hide the risers and extend around the entire stage. All our lightweight modular staging has clamping options to create larger platforms, therefore you can create any size or shape stage platform required. Options include 1x1m and 2x1m light deck staging including a non-slip black hexa finish. Stage concepts offer a wide range of lightweight staging. I've tried this several different ways by searching the internet, but nothing seems to be correct. Here we discuss the introduction and working with Log Plot Matlab along with the examples and outputs.I have approximated up to $t=2$ with step sizes $h=(1/2)^)$ and so $\log(error)=\log(C)+k\log(h)$, where $k$ is the order of the numerical method. So, depending on the requirements we can use loglog and semilogx in Matlab. Log plots are used in the field of economics, to estimate the numerical parameters and in the field of machine learning to transform the columns if they are not normally distributed. It will plot the logarithmic values in the x-axis ranging from 10^0 to 10^4. Here, linespeci denotes the properties of the line including color, line type, etc. semilogx (a1, b1, linespeci…): This plots the logarithmic values in the x-axis according to the specifications that we give to the line.It any one of them an or bn is a matrix, then it meant to plot the vector argument of it and the values present in the matrix with their dimension. semilogx (a1, b1…): This plots the logarithmic values in x in terms of different pairs present in a1 and b1.semilogx(a): This will plot the logarithmic values for the x-axis and the linear values in Y-axis.In the x-axis, it ranges from 10^-2 to 10^1 and the graph is plotted according to the above plot. This plots the logarithmic scale in the x and y-axis. To plot the logarithmic scale in both the axis: Here are the examples of Log Plot Matlab mentioned below: Example #1 If it is On, then the vertical and horizontal lines are sharpened which shows an even appearance of the lines. If it is Off, then vertical and horizontal lines will not be sharpened enough which shows an uneven appearance of the line. We can also set the vertex to align parameter to Off or On.We can also adjust the line corners style which can be round, chamfer and miter.Line widths can also be adjusted for proper edges of the line.If we have already specified, the line style mode in its specification while plotting the log plot then it is by default assigned to “manual “. If the line style mode is set to auto, then Matlab decides the mode of the line while if it set to manual then we have to specify the style mode of the line in its line style property. There are two types of line style mode which have the same working mechanism as that of color style mode.If the line style is ‘- ‘then it is the solid line if the style is ‘- – ‘then it is known as a dashed line if the style is ‘.’ then it is known as a dotted line and if the style is ‘-.’ then it is known as a dashed-dotted line. There are various line styles that can be changed as per the business requirement. If we have set any value in the “line spec” argument, then the color mode is changed to manual. If it is set to “manual” then we can manually change the color of the line by specifying the value in “line spec” argument. If it is set to “auto” Matlab changes the color of the line automatically. There are two color modes that can be assigned according to the requirements. In Matlab, they have their unique RGB triplet and hexadecimal color which are used while plotting the graphs. Each color has its unique hexadecimal color code and RGB Triplet which are given by values 0 and 1. Line color can be red, blue-green, cyan, magenta, yellow, black, white and no color. There are various properties of lines that can be changed according to the values that we provide during the syntax like color, color mode, line width, style of the line, line join and aligning different vertex centers. Loglog (axes,…): This plots the graph with the axes value as mentioned by the “axes” label in the syntax. There are various formulas and syntax that can be performed with lines like to change the line type and color. Loglog (….’name of the property’, ‘value of the property’): This is meant to change the line properties.Loglog (a1, b1, linespeci…): This plots the logarithmic values according to the specifications that we give to the line. It any one of them an or bn is a matrix, then it is meant to plot the vector argument of it and the values present in the matrix with their dimension. LogLog (a1, b1…): This plots the logarithmic values in terms of different pairs present in a1 and b1.If the value is a complex number, then it ignores the imaginary component of it and plots the graph with respect to the real component of the number. Loglog(X): This plots the logarithmic scale with respect to the columns present in X and their index provided that it is a real number. Please find the below syntax and their use: Elaine doesn’t let anyone or anything stop her from achieving her goals. “A serial entrepreneur since the age of 14, Elaine broke into the male-dominated construction business and bulldozed her way into becoming one of the industry’s biggest players. When you know how to validate an email address using an email validation tool, you’ll save time determining if the addresses on your lists are deliverable and not spam, reduce your bounce rate, improve your sender reputation, and be assured that your mailings reach your subscribers.Įmail validation tools look for potential issues and problems in an email address. The result is that the organization’s marketing goals will be challenging to achieve. After a while, mailings to those addresses bounce, decreasing the list’s deliverability rate. Over time, people change addresses and spam accounts sign up for campaigns. We recommended that you compare data from your data sheet with existing constituent profile data to make sure the most accurate and updated data is used.It takes work to build a mailing list of prospective clients and keep that list up to date with valid and deliverable email addresses. Sorry for the late post, but we’ve only just returned from this evenings Puffin cruise, which was an absolute delight. Juvenile Stonechat – Swineham (yesterday) – Peter Moore Our Morden Bog Bird song ID walk this AM was busy with a Marsh Tit and Firecrest in the car park and then 3 Woodlark, 3 Tree Pipit, 5 Dartford Warbler, 3 Yellowhammer, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 4 recently fledged Stonechat, 4 Reed Bunting, 4 Mistle Thrush, plenty of passing Linnet and Siskin overhead and 1 Willow Warbler. A Red Kite passed over the Osprey nest, where both CJ7 and 022 spent the day chilling out, not doing a great deal and sitting out the rain! The Forster’s Tern was on the Brownsea Lagoon again this morning. A Cuckoo was at Lytchett Bay, this morning 3-4 different White-tailed Eagles were in around the Wareham Channel/Arne area. The 2 over-summering dark-bellied Brent Geese were still on the Brownsea Lagoon and an estimated 120+ Common Tern are now on eggs. Waders are still passing through as they won’t be reaching breeding grounds for another couple of weeks and today a stunning summer plumaged Grey Plover was on the Brownsea Lagoon along with 6 Ringed Plover, 5 Dunlin and 3 Turnstone. Many species will of course still be incubating and in fact some late comers will still only just be arriving, like the 4 Swift that came in off the sea at Studland Beach this AM. Blackbird fledged young a few weeks ago, but in recent days Starling, Dunnock, Blackcap and Stonechat have all seen juveniles gathering or being fed by the adults. It seems the first wave of juveniles are emerging and fledging for a range of species. A Spoonbill was on Brownsea first thing, along with 1 Ringed Plover, 1 Avocet, 2 Grey Plover, 5 Dunlin and 1 Redshank. The 2 White-tailed Eagles were in the Wareham Channel first thing before heading off north, we a had a stunning adult Hobby over the Osprey viewing platform today and 2 Marsh Harrier were in the Wareham Channel. with 2 Red Kite over Brownsea, 1 over Lytchett Bay/Upton and 1 over Arne. For the welfare of the birds, please don’t publish the locations on social media, but instead either email or ‘DM’ us on Twitter or Facebook.īack to today, it was mainly the raptors keeping things going again. Even species like Lesser Whitethroat, Common Whitethroat, Spotted Flycatcher and Garden Warbler are all scarce breeders around the harbour, so information of potential breeding sites would be helpful to know. Therefore we’d be really keen to know if anyone has any other interesting reports of possible territories of Nightingale, Grasshopper Warbler or anything else for that matter. The interesting thing about the ‘Gropper’ is that it’s only singing at night, meaning others could be out there in suitable habitat but just not being heard. With this in mind, it highlights that these species are out there and likely under recorded. In recent years we’ve been made aware of up to 3 Nightingale territories around the harbour area and in recent weeks we’ve a found Grasshopper Warbler on territory. It’s getting to that time of year when other interesting focuses can easily distract you from the birds but don’t get too distracted as there’s still plenty to find. It was another scorcher across the harbour today, especially by mid-afternoon. Examples include mergers or acquisitions that weaken shareholders’ positions. The concept of maximizing shareholder value is generally emphasized for possible examples of CEOs and other management behaviors that enrich themselves, at the cost of shareholders. For instance, in the interest of improving shareholder value, a company may not offer support for old, or maybe even new, products. It can also handicap stakeholders of the company like customers. Shareholder value associated with short-termism has also been criticized for lowering overall economic growth due to lower capital accumulation. Business decisions can maximize shareholder value while reducing the welfare of all other groups involved. Focusing on shareholder value can be economically beneficial to corporate owners, but does not provide a clear measure of social issues such as employment, environmental issues, or ethical business practices. The sole focus on shareholder value is often criticized. Based on these seven factors, business functions can be meticulously designed and show how they affect shareholder value. Therefore, this detailed concept eliminates some (not all) of the issues associated with criticism of the shareholder value model. The same is true for companies that neglect research and don’t invest in trained employees. The period of competitive advantage largely takes care of this – when a company sells inferior products to reduce costs and make quick profits, it damages its reputation and loses its competitive advantage in the future. The widely used model includes seven drivers of shareholder value that guide managers including:Ĭonsidering some of these factors, it's clear that short-term profit maximization does not always increase shareholder value. Shareholder value is usually broken down into components called value drivers because it's not directly affected by any manager. If a shareholder owns 10 shares, the individual shareholder value is $420. Step 4: Now multiply the above total by the number of shares held by one shareholder. If a company's stock sells for $40 per share, then add $40 and $2 per share to earn $42. Step 3: Add the stock price to the profit per share. If your company has 400 million shares outstanding, divide $800 million by $400 million to get a profit per share of $2. Step 2: Divide the company's available income by the total number of outstanding shares to calculate the company's earnings after the acquisition of shares. If a company has a net profit of $1 billion and a preferred dividend of $200 million, shareholders can earn $800 million. Net income is the company's total revenue less operating and non-operating expenses, depreciation, interest, and taxes. Preferred dividends are dividends paid to preferred stockholders. Step 1: Start by subtracting your company's preferred dividend from its net income. Here's how to compute your portion of shareholder value: Shareholder value can be a contentious issue for businesses as creating wealth for shareholders does not always mean value for a company's employees or customers. Shareholders’ equity includes retained earnings – the company's net income fewer cash dividends since incorporation. The balance sheet formula for shareholders’ equity is assets minus liabilities. Notably, mergers result in significant increases in shareholder value.Īn increase in shareholder value increases the total amount in the equity section of the company’s balance sheet. When a company creates shareholder value in the long term, stock prices rise and shareholders are paid more cash dividends. In contrast, faulty decision-making or inappropriate tactics may damage shareholder value. This includes its ability to make prudent investment decisions and generate sound returns on the invested capital. It can be attributed to several factors including the management's ability to increase revenue, or cash flow.Ī company's shareholder value is determined by strategic decisions made by its senior management. Shareholder value is the financial worth a business owner receives by owning shares in a company. It is a business term that describes the value enjoyed by shareholders for owning shares in a company. Shareholder value definition is rather straightforward.
